Wakepoint — Privacy Policy

Wakepoint is a proximity alarm app. This policy explains what the app does with your data.

Short version

Wakepoint does not collect, store, or share personal data.
Your location is used only on your device, only to compute distance to a destination you chose.
The only network traffic Wakepoint makes is optional place-name lookups to OpenStreetMap's public Nominatim geocoding service — and only when you use the "Search" tab in the app.

Precise and approximate location, in the foreground and background. Used to check how close you are to the destination you saved. Location data is processed locally on your device.
Notifications permission (Android 13+). Used to display the ongoing "Wakepoint armed" notification and to ring the alarm.
Exact alarm permission. Used to schedule the alarm to fire on time.

Your saved alarms (label, destination coordinates, trigger radius, on/off state) are stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences. Nothing is uploaded.

Only when you use the Search tab: Wakepoint sends the place name you type to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service (https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/) in order to look up coordinates. Nominatim's own privacy policy applies to that request. No user identifier is attached; the request includes only a generic User-Agent header identifying the app.
When you paste a Google Maps short link (maps.app.goo.gl / goo.gl/maps), Wakepoint follows the HTTP redirect to resolve the underlying google.com/maps/… URL. No additional data is sent — only the same short URL that you pasted.
No other network traffic. No analytics. No crash reporting. No ads.

Wakepoint is a general-purpose alarm app. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL, and the "Last updated" date at the top will change.
